Spreading the "Culture of Life" in Japan and Throughout Asia

The Saint Kolbe Foundation

The Lifeissues Project is supported entirely by donations - it has no other source of income. Recently, the Saint Kolbe Foundation was established to help continue and strengthen our Catholic witness to the Culture of Life throughout the world - especially in Japan, Korea and The Orient.

Witness in Japan

Father Jerry Novotny O.M.I. has been working in Japan for more than four decades. For most of that time he has been a teacher at Kochi National University on the southern Japanese island of Shikoku. Nearly 30 years ago, an encounter with a couple of students changed his life.

Fr. Jerry had been lecturing about the development of the child in the womb while unbeknownst to him, one of his students, unmarried, was carrying a child. After hearing the lecture, the young couple decided, against the wishes of their parents, not to abort the child. When the young couple told Fr. Jerry about their decision, he realized how critical it was to spread the Gospel of Life in Japan.

For nearly 30 years, he has published and distributed a monthly Pro-Life newsletter that reaches Junior High Schools, High Schools, Universities, Parishes and Hospitals/Clinics throughout Japan. About two years ago, Father Novotny took his work onto the web creating both English and Japanese versions of Lifeissues.net.
