After 17 years and three studies reaffirming the success of the Heritage Keepers® Abstinence Education Program, US Health and Human Services added it to the Federal list of evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs.

What does that mean? It means that for the first time (ever) there is now a proven-effective, evidence-based authentic abstinence-until-marriage education program qualified to receive Federal support and funding.

Even The Washington Post wrote a very positive article after interviewing Anne Badgley, the Founder and CEO of Heritage Community Services.

Badgley, the Heritage Keepers® staff and educators have shown repeatedly that when young people are given the opportunity to take control of their lives by learning life skills that enable them to avoid risks, they embrace it. A year after the program, Heritage Keepers® students are 3 times more likely to abstain from sex as were similar non-program students. Heritage Keepers® is equally effective across age, gender and race. This is earth shattering news! The so-called Safe Sex-perts are livid, demanding an explanation from HHS and have kept the blogosphere busy with such exclamations as, "Heritage Keepers® has cracked the holy grail".

It very well may be the first time ANY authentic abstinence-until-marriage program in the world has been recognized as proven-effective and evidence-based.

Who would have dreamed this could happen at this time and under the Obama administration?

State agencies, school districts, and faith and community-based organizations - - that have long hoped for and wanted to use an effective abstinence program, but were told "abstinence education doesn't work" and "wasn't on the List" -- can now feel confident asking for the Heritage Keepers® Program. This is a win for taxpayers, as well.

It also means that the Planned Parenthood, SIECUS, Advocates for Youth, the Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and ACLU naysayers can no longer claim that "abstinence education has failed" and that such programs should be shut down and defunded.

This is huge, folks! The science-based Heritage Keepers® Program has been validated by science.
