This Lent, I have two special intentions

Andrew Bath

Dear Jerry,

Today is Ash Wednesday, when Christians across the world fast and pray in repentance and prepare to turn our hearts towards God in a special way for the next forty days.

The ashes that some of us wear on our foreheads are put there with the reminder that we are dust and unto dust we shall return.

And if there was ever a time in our country where we needed prayer, repentance, and focus on the spiritual world, it's now.

This Lent, I have a special request for you, Jerry.

I ask that you join us in prayer about two life and death issues - for peace in the World and for the end of abortion in America.

This year is unfolding under the shadow of war, which is why I hope you'll join me in praying for an end to this brutal conflict before any more lives are lost.

But we also cannot ignore how crucial this year will be for the pro-life movement.

We simply can't let this special opportunity for prayer and sacrifice go to waste.

As I contemplate the monstrous threats to God's creation we are faced with at this moment in time, I am particularly struck by the words of Esther 4:14:

"Perhaps this is the moment for which you were created."

And I do truly believe that you and I were called to this particular moment in history for a reason.

I hope you rise up with the Thomas More Society this Lenten season and storm Heaven with prayers and fasting for peace in Europe and for an end to the slaughter of the innocents here at home.

Thank you for your support.
