Lifeissues is mainly concerned with publishing thoughtful articles directly related to issues raised in Evangelium Vitae. However, from the very beginning, we have also published a few related homilies, notably by Fr. Al Cariño, O.M.I., Fr. Tony Pueyo, and others.
Please use the pulldowns below to select a homily by Liturgical Calendar date.
The journey of redemption passes through the road of Calvary. It is not an easy journey. It is the Way of the Cross.
God doesn't have a memory but we do. God doesn't need a memory but we do. God doesn't forget but we do. God knows everything all at once and doesn't need to recall anything. When Jesus took on, however, the nature of a human being living in time he separated himself from the eternal bliss and glory of heaven. That for Christ was the worst of punishments much worse than being "driven into the desert . . . to be tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights". We should remember, too, that God is not the ruler of this world. Satan is. And some would unwittingly befriend Satan is this world.
No one is exempt from temptation, not even Jesus. Jesus was tempted but did not sin. Instead, he showed us by example how to live a life of faithfulness.
