Homilies

Lifeissues is mainly concerned with publishing thoughtful articles directly related to issues raised in Evangelium Vitae. However, from the very beginning, we have also published a few related homilies, notably by Fr. Al Cariño, O.M.I., Fr. Tony Pueyo, and others.

Please use the pulldowns below to select a homily by Liturgical Calendar date.

New! Easter everyday

Tom Bartolomeo
Once we understand how God operates as a man, the sooner we can follow his "way". It is the great irony of life that the heavy burdens we bear can only be lightened when we personally acknowledge the burdens of others as did Jesus. We need to put a face on those we help and those who help us. Easter is the kindness of a visible breathing disciple of Jesus as the Son of Man who washes feet and keeps Easter alive everyday.

New! Padre, don't forget

Douglas McManaman
My friend remembers meeting a very poor woman in the Bateyes of Consuelo, Dominican Republic, who was blind and who had one arm severed; she was in her 50s, and of course she was living in great poverty. Through a translator, my friend said to her: "I'm sorry". He was sorry for her condition, for her suffering. She read his sorrow on his face and simply said to him in reply: "Padre: don't forget, there is going to be a resurrection".
