Clara E. Jace is a PhD student in the Economics Department at George Mason University as well as a Lecturer in the Economics Department at The Catholic University of America. Her primary areas of research include family economics, the economics of religion, and political economy. Beyond economics, Clara is interested in Catholic Social Thought, specifically, the conversation between economists and scholars in that tradition.
Soviet misunderstandings of the market were replicated as misunderstandings of the family - with damaging and dehumanizing consequences. Though Soviet family policy has mercifully ended, it is still worthwhile to examine its central ideas, because they live on today in Western family policy.
