Marilyn Pryor works for the Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington in New Zealand where she is both pro-life advisor to the Archdiocese and editor of their diocesan newspaper Wel-com. She is a former national president of New Zealand's major pro-life agency, the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child and worked full time for that agency for seven years where she specialized in political lobbying and research. In 1986 Marilyn wrote the definitive history of New Zealand's abortion laws. In 1994 was a member of New Zealand's official delegation to the UN Conference on Population and Development in Cairo. She was instrumental in the establishment of Project Rachel in all six N.Z. dioceses and introducing it to the Archdiocese of Sydney in Australia. Over recent years she has worked in parishes throughout the Wellington Archdiocese with Bishop John Dew promoting the Gospel of Life and encouraging parishes to play a part in fostering a culture of life. She is also a trustee of Life Thrust, an agency working with social services agencies from four Christian churches to assist women who are reluctantly considering abortion.

The research showed that young Dutch women are much less likely than New Zealanders to place themselves at risk. There appears to be a strong cultural emphasis on individual responsibility, on avoiding unplanned pregnancies and on respect for unborn life.
