Roland Warren, President and CEO of Care Net, had this to say about how we should view our marriages.
Sadly, most marriages seem to be selfish rather than selfless. But, Scripture says something different. Why does marriage matter so much?
Reason #1 Fidelity to marriage matters to you.
Aside from generally living longer and healthier lives, Tim Keller said, "Marriage has the power to set the course of your life as a whole. If your marriage is strong, even if all the circumstances in your life around you are filled with trouble and weakness, it won't matter."
Reason #2 Fidelity to marriage matters to your kids.
As a husband or wife, your kids are always learning what marriage looks like from the example you give. If you value your marriage, it will show your kids the example they need. In turn, they will value marriage.
Reason #3 Fidelity to marriage matters to the Pro Abundant Life movement.
Fact: 85% of abortions are among unmarried women. The decades-long decay of marriage has created the biggest factor in abortions. That said, marriage is God's idea. Without strong marriages, abortion will continue.
