Why do people marry?

Answer 21:

Some people marry for companionship or for security. Many couples marry for love, hoping to deepen their relationship further in marriage. However, they may have the thought of getting a divorce if things don't work out and their love dies.

A couple should not marry just because they love each other. They should marry because they want to love each other. "Want" indicates an intention for the future, so that both spouses should want to love each other now and for the rest of their lives. In other words, marriage should be a life-long commitment. It would be terrible to hear a person say at his wedding: "I marry you because I love you. But I do not know if I will still love you one year from now. Next year I will decide again. If my love for you has died, or if I love someone else even more, I will divorce you and we can go our separate ways".
