Some believe that God does have absolutes. The reason he gave the Israelites the 10 Commandments wasn't because He wanted to give them a bunch of rules to live by. He knew that when these were broken, people would suffer from hurt, divided relationships, etc.
He doesn't say do not steal just because he doesn't want you to have any fun. God doesn't change. The Bible tells us that. So, for example, to break one of these will break relationship with Him -- Sin and with other people.
To those who walk in the flesh, the law is given. Otherwise, they have no ability to discern right from wrong -- which does hurt other people.
To those who walk in the Spirit, the matters of the heart determine when something is sin. The heart is in tune with God, who will reveal to them whenever their intent is out of line.
Bible tells us to love our enemies, pray for them, turn the other cheek, & many like things. It also tells us to stand against evil. There are times to pluck up that which is planted, to shake the dust off our feet, & more like things.
If we hold to the law, we remain captive in circumstances that God gave us other provisions for. We still adamantly believe in the law. The difference is that we trust God to reveal to us which law He requires at any given time.
What ever God speaks to us is the ultimate/absolute law. He isn't dead!
Not the words written in ink, but the ones He writes upon our hearts.
The whole law is fulfilled in one verse -- thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. If you do that, you've covered every possible law within the Bible.
Sometimes tuff love is required. Sometimes sacrificial love is required. Sometimes Holy love is required. Sometimes we're to love as a Parent, sometimes as a child. How do we know when our rightful place should be where? By following God. Sometimes, above every other position of love -- we have to stand for our love for Him.
