Hedge of Protection
My Boaz

Lord, I've been here, for a long time,
In your perfect divine will;
On this threshing floor, sweet Jesus,
And its cold and, oh, so still.

I've been waiting for my Boaz,
Lord; the perfect boy for me;
Trusting You to bring him to me,
So forever blessed I'll be.

And I know that many prayers
Have been offered up for me,
I'm so thankful, Lord, but curious
Because, well, Lord, you see ...

I cannot help but wonder
If prayer's not the reason why
I'm unnoticed, undiscovered.
The world seems to pass me by.

Will my Boaz ever find me
If I'm covered up with prayer?
He could end up walking past me
And not even know I'm there!

See, my Mom and her prayer group
Have this hedge placed around me,
Of protection; and there's angels
Encamped round that I can't see.

An umbrella of protection
They have placed above my head,
And if we can't fold it up awhile,
I fear I won't be wed!

I'm afraid, Lord, that this hedge
Might have blocked BoazÕs view.
With the angels and umbrellas 'round,
Can You even find me, too?

Since I'm hidden, here, behind all this,
Might I so boldly ask
If we could take it down awhile.
Would that be too hard a task?

You see, I want to be like all my friends
Out having so much fun,
I promise, when my oats are sowed,
To put back every one.

All those hedges and umbrellas,
And the angels encamped 'round
Will go right back where You want them to.
I think its called "holy ground!"

Please, don't tell my Mom, Lord,
That I've prayed this sinful prayer,
She'll get out the "oil" again.
She anoints things, everywhere!

I don't think I've got a demon
That needs cast outside of me.
I'm just curious is all and
Wanna see what others see.

The only way I'd ever find
My Boaz here, with You,
Is if he were resting in Your will;
Surrounded by You, too!

"Who are you?" he asked.
"I am your servant Ruth," she said.
"Spread the corner of your garment over me,
since you are a kinsman-redeemer.

The LORD bless you,
my daughter," he replied.
"This kindness is greater than
that which you showed earlier:
You have not run after the younger
men, whether rich or poor.

And now, my daughter, don't be afraid.
I will do for you all you ask.
All my fellow townsmen know that you
are a woman of noble character."
