Cribs with a side rail that moves up and down so parents can lift children from them more easily [have been] banned under legislation aimed at reducing infant deaths. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, drop-side cribs have caused 32 infant deaths in America since 2000. Fourteen (14) other fatalities could be related to drop-side cribs but investigators lacked information to make a clear link. All together that comes to 4.6 priceless and irreplaceable infant lives lost per year. [In May of 2010] Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., introduced a bill to outlaw the sale and manufacture of the cribs. "There have been few too many recalls and far too many deaths from defective cribs in recent years," said Inez Tenenbaum, chair of the safety commission.

I too am concerned. The safety of our children is important. Forty-six (46) infant deaths is 46 infant deaths too many.

1.21 Million Aborted Children Each Year

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI), from 1973 through 2005, more than 45 million legal abortions occurred. Over 32 years that averages out to be 1.41 million aborted children each year. For example in 2005, 1.21 million children were aborted, which is down from 1.31 million aborted children in 2000. The most common induced abortion (IA) method in the United States of America is vacuum aspiration ("suction"). According to Rooney, Calhoun and Roche, vacuum aspiration abortions (VAA) have never been proven safe in animal studies and are a violation of the Nuremberg Code of ethics on human research and experimentation. Again, Rooney reports, "At a minimum, consent forms for surgical abortions should inform patients of this risk."

I too am concerned. The safety of our children is important. Considering 2005 alone, 1.21 million aborted children (i.e., deaths) is 1.21 million aborted children (i.e., deaths) too many. In my neighborhood alone (i.e., Black America), abortion takes the lives of forty-six (46) babies in less than an hour, every hour of every day. However, if we continue to do the math, every twenty (20) minutes abortion takes the lives of forty-six (46) babies nationwide.

Where Is the Recall of Abortion?

It is clear that abortion takes the life of an innocent human being. Modern medical science overwhelmingly supports "personhood" (i.e., the fact that the life of every human being begins at the beginning of his/her biological development). Let's remove the politically charged rhetoric of the "life" debate and replace it with the commonsense scientific principle that life begins at each human being's biological development, that "Momma is pregnant with child." We should be concerned that 32 infants have died in cribs since 2000. Moreover, we ought to be outraged that abortion, deliberately, legally and with taxpayer dollars, puts to death 1.21 million children every year. Where is the outrage? Where is the recall of abortion and the recall of every leader [who] supports it?

Brothers, we really need to talk.
